What are the ways you can catch mrsa?

my step father has mrsa and is in the hospital having his toe cut off. I have to go to his house to clean up but I dont know what i can and cant touch. can i set in his chair? or on his couch? does bleach or lysol kill mrsa? can his pets have it? how can i prevent him from getting reinfected when he returns home? and should i set off bug bombs in his house? is it safe to take my 6 and 7 year old to his house while im cleaning?
