Beginner/Amateur looking to find the right telescope?

Have you looked at the night sky with a variety of types and sizes of telescopes to judge for yourself which one you like? Google your local astronomical club and go to a star party. Check out the scopes and ask about them, including cost. If you do this, you will have a good idea of what you really want from a scope. This is important . . . neglecting to do this would be like buying a vehicle without ever having a test drive!
